Investigator of the department for the investigation of especially important cases of the department for the North-West Administrative Office of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee in Moscow.

AFASIZHEV, Zalim Yuryevich was an investigator of the Perovsky Interdistrict Investigation Department of the Investigation Department for the Eastern Administrative District of the Main Investigation Department of Russia in Moscow in 2012. As of 2019, he was an investigator of the department for the investigation of especially important cases of the department for the North-West Administrative Office of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee in Moscow.

Carrying out political repressions using his official position.

Investigator Afasizhev took part in the political persecution of Putin’s regime opponents. In 2012, he was on the investigation team for the Bolotnaya Square case, the criminal prosecution of opposition activists for participating in police-provoked clashes on Bolotnaya Square on May 6, 2012.

Besides, a lawyer Viktor Tsymbal complained about the methods of work of investigator Afasizhev. “Afasizhev Zalim Yuryevich (the country should know its heroes), in order not to send a criminal case to the head of the Investigative Committee, Bastrykin, to extend the procedural time (18 months) came up with a funny move. While fulfilling the requirements of Art. 217 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, he interrupts familiarization with the case for the accused and their defenders (without a court decision, which is typical) and sends the case with the indictment to his head of the department for approval and referral to the court! Well, the boss, of course, returns the case to the investigator and sets a one-month period! Zalim Yuryevich slowly takes the case to production and begins to acquaint the accused with the case again. And so THREE TIMES! Without a court decision, he limits the right to familiarization with the case! What is characteristic is that a statement about this flagrant fact, addressed to Bastrykin safely slipped into the same department in the North-Western Administrative District!” said Tsymbal (author's spelling and punctuation are preserved).

In August 2019, Zalim Afasizhev, among the three former Bolotnaya case investigators, joined the Moscow case investigation team, a politically motivated investigation of the “riots” during a July 27, 2019, peaceful protest against the refusal to register independent candidates in the Moscow City Duma elections.
