UK designates Russian officials involved in Ukraine sham elections

The UK designated 1 entity and 10 individuals “in response to Russia’s attempts to use sham elections to legitimise its illegal control of Crimea, Luhansk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk” (press release, notice):

  • Oleg Georgevich, Igor Olegovich Babkin, Andrei Anatolievich Aleksyenko, Viktor Andriyovych Emelyanenko, Vladimir Vladimirovich Yezhikov, officials in the Russian-installed governments in Crimea, Luhansk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk (respectively);
  • Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia, a government agency which arranged the elections and last year’s referendums in controlled parts of Ukraine, and CEC officials, Natalya Budarina and, Alexander Gennadievich Sidyakin;
  • Marina Yuryevna and Galina Anatolyevna Katyushenko, regional election commission officials; and
  • Alexander Vyacheslavovich Kurenkov, Russian Minister for Emergencies and a Lieutenant General of the Russian Armed Forces.
