Member of the Council for Cooperation with Religious Associations under the President of the Russian Federation, Archbishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Russia (since 2014).
BRAUER, Dietrich (b. 1983) is an active propagandist of the Putin regime and the disseminator of the ideas of the “Russian world.” In 2014, he spoke in the State Duma of the Russian Federation with a call for the tightening of the legislation of the Russian Federation against “wrong” religious organizations. He actively promoted the adoption of the notorious Yarovaya Bill. After the adoption of the bill, he used government agencies and his relations in state security structures in the struggle for property and his personal influence. He actively supports the occupation of Crimea. Immediately after the annexation, he went to Crimea, where he subjugated the Lutheran communities of Crimea, which had property and had been previously in the jurisdiction of Ukraine. He regularly speaks in the Russian state media from anti-Ukrainian positions. Brauer supported Russian military involvement in eastern Ukraine.
He is actively collaborating with the Russian authorities in prosecuting dissidents. He considers the liquidation of Jehovah's Witnesses and other religious organizations in Russia his accomplishments. According to leaders of independent religious organizations, he uses his membership in the Council under the President of the Russian Federation to prosecute opponents and to develop his business interests. In his activities, he enjoys the patronage of the highest hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church and uses his “high connections in the patriarchy” as an argument to threaten his opponents. Dietrich Brauer actively participates in the GONGO “Russian Association for the Protection of Religious Freedom,” used by the Russian authorities to promote aggressive state policies and persecute believers in the Russian Federation. He broadcasts the idea that the church is a state institution and should support the state and serve its interests, regardless of what kind of policy the state pursues.
Promoting the implementation of the criminal actions of the Russian authorities to destroy the principles of international law, peace, democracy, and anti-corruption. Initiation of persecution of religious minorities in Russia and personal participation in these persecutions.
The basis of the accusation is an official position in the Council under the President of the Russian Federation and other government agencies, active participation in the legal and political support of the interests of the Kremlin in Ukraine, including participation in the annexation of Crimea.
He is also accused of active participation in aggressive state propaganda of the Putin regime, that is, in the creation and dissemination of information in the interests of the political leadership of the Russian Federation that intentionally distorts reality, deceives people and instills aggression, an atmosphere of fear, hatred, xenophobia, and chauvinism. Thus, he is involved in fomenting anti-Western and anti-Ukrainian sentiments in society.
